What are hair growth cycles and how do they affect laser hair removal?
Hair growth cycles are the stages the hair and hair follicle go through during the growth process. There are 3 stages or cycles for hair growth: Anagen, catagen and telogen. The Anagen cycle is the active one in which the hair fiber is produced. During anagen, there is an abundance of melanin or the pigment which gives the hair its color. Since lasers target pigments, the anagan phase is the one during which laser hair removal treatment is most effective. The other 2 stages namely catagen and telogen are dormant stages in which laser treatments are ineffective.
