Grand National controversies
The Grand National is also one of the most controversial races of the year, due to the high profile given to injuries and fatalities suffered by the participating horses. The grand national event has been targeted by animal rights groups who have campaigned to have it banned. Sadly one rider has also died as a result of injuries sustained in the race. Many people believe the race to be so dangerous that a press ban should take place, and children should not be allowed to attend the event. The mere fact that the race has gone on for so long is testamount to the passions involved by all and sundry.
