Picking up the guitar for the first time can fill a person with a sense of inspiration and awe. This is an awesome instrument that is very versatile and can be used in a variety of different types of music, from classical to heavy metal. Those who are just starting may have no real understanding of music, so it may be very important to them to learn how to read guitar tabs. This skill is one that will help them read all kinds of music from all different areas. Be careful, however. Just because you learn to read a tab does not mean that you should ignore music. Tabs do have drawbacks too.
